StudyMode

StudyMode is an excellent new site for students looking for a wide variety of study materials.  A user can search through course notes, research papers, essays, and other student created content.  Also, this is a great place to find notes on famous works of literature and AP notes for exams.

iPractice Math

iPractice Math is one of my favorite free sites for all things Math.  This simple to use site w/ educational portal allows educators to track and manage students as they progress through any area of Math.  iPractice has an abundance of resources for educators and students such as, problem walkthroughs, printables/worksheets, definitions, tutorials, and much much more.  Best of all are the detailed reports that educators can generate to assess students.

Science Bits

Science Bits is a nice Science curriculum for MS/HS aged students.  This site has a wide variety of multimedia actives, simulations, videos, and more as students learn about areas/concepts of Science.  It has a wide variety of lessons for educators to choose from as well as lots of interactive resources.

PBS LearningMedia for Students

PBS Learning Media just released a portal for students that includes: ideas and resources for project based and self paced learning.  Also, there are number of free tools for educators such as quiz and lesson generators, a storyboard tool, and more.  Finally, there are a number of links and videos for a wide range of subjects such as: digital art, Social Studies, Science, etc.

Writinghouse

Writinghouse is a nifty little site that is a free citation/bibliography generator.  All a user has to do is select the type of citation they want (i.e. book, magazine, etc.), type in the name of a book, and then click add to add it to their bibliography.  They can save or download/share the
ir bibliographies.

Super Teacher Worksheet

Super Teacher Worksheets is one of the best sites around for finding educational resources such as worksheets, printables, puzzles, and more.  This is a great place where educators can browse by subject and even find generators to create their very own worksheets, puzzles, crosswords, etc.  Also, many of STW resources are aligned to Common Core Standards.

Slader

Slader is an ambitious site that is like an online study hall for HS students.  This site provides a platform for students to "self pace" their learning.  Through collaborating w/ their peers students can ask Q/A and find homework help from over 600 text books in the subjects of Math, Science, History, and English.

From their site, "If a student is having difficulty with a particular type of problem, they can find practice problems and solutions on Slader. Slader enables students to get “unstuck” on troublesome problems, tempering frustration. Those students can then contribute solutions to areas that they are better in, inspiring confidence."

Jeopardy Rocks

Jeopardy Rocks is a fun little free site that I just found out from Free Technology 4 Teachers for creating online Jeopardy games.  This is really easy to do just create a URL and then click on a square to create a question/answer.  Once a board is created it can then be shared w/ others via a URL and up to 6 teams can play.

Great Websites for Kids

Great Websites for Kids is a nice collection of sites for kids up to 14 yrs old.  All sites have been reviewed and safe for kids to use.  Also, a student can browse through sites by topic, subject, or manually type in what they are looking for.

Modern Chalkboard

Modern Chalkboard is a wonderful free site for finding educational resources such as Smart Board files.  These interactive lessons cover a wide range of topics from Math, to Science, and Social Studies.  Right now this is a fairly new site and the majority of their resources are for
K-5th grade but more Smart Board resources are being added all the time.

NameCoach

NameCoach is an interesting new site that people are using for learning people's names.  This could be a useful tool for educators needed to learn student's names and the proper way to pronounce them. The way this works is a user creates a name/web page and then has the student's speak their names.  The audio gets embedded into a page and a user can access them all on one page at anytime.  Also, NameCoach makes it very easy to share recordings and keep track of student's name/email.

In Pictures

In Pictures is a nice free simple site for those wanting to find online tutorials for different version of the MS Office suite as well as for Google Drive Apps.  Instead of using video In Pictures uses screen shots that act as a digital user manual that takes users step by step through the process of using the application.  At the end of a section is interactive practice exercise to help determine how well a person knows a subject.

Matific

Matific is a great site for finding educational resources for Math in grades K-6th.  These resources include videos, worksheets, activities, and more w/ an educational portal that allows educators to track student progress.  Also, teachers are using this to assess students performance in Math and differentiate instruction.

Wizer

Wizer is a new site that is great for creating online assignments/worksheets.  These assignments can contain all types of media (i.e. audio, video, images) as well as being able to share w/ others.  Best of all, the assignments on Wizer allow for student tracking so a educator can assess how well a student is doing.

ForAllRubrics

ForAllRubrics is a wonderful site/app (iOS/Android) for educators looking to create rubrics and even badges for their class.  This site interacts seamless w/ their free mobile app as well as lets educators create/manage student accounts while creating rubrics that are aligned to Common Core Standards.  Also, educators can browse through existing rubrics created by other users assess students and generate detailed reports.

Schoolfy

Schoolfy is a new (beta) free site for finding, creating, and sharing lesson plans.  The lesson plans can contain any information from the internet, your computer, or mobile device.  Best of all are the assessment features which lets teachers create assignments/quizzes and then grade them in real-time.  Also, there are lot of features that allow educators to set permissions for public/private viewing and more.

Coursekicker

Coursekicker is a new free site for finding and posting educational resources.  The site reminds me of a 19 Pencils w/ a more "older/secondary" look.  This is a great place for educators to curate resources such as sites, lesson plans, and more.  Also, it lets educators upload their own materials and save/bookmark their favorite finds.  Best of all, is the nice feature which lets users rate material which shows what's hot or trending.
